Providing incentives and support for Congolese health professionals interested in working in their home country is desperately needed if the Congo is to begin to address their own health problems.
Congo BioMed has developed two different grant opportunities for Congolese health professionals and researchers with the aim of encouraging biomedical research in the Congo:
- Health professionals, such as Congolese-trained physicians, are encouraged to apply for competitively awarded grants to investigate health concerns in their community. Such grants are designed to foster in communities the capacity and know-how to address their own health problems.
- Congo BioMed also offers small grants to Congolese researchers who have obtained training abroad and returned to the Congo in pursuit of a career.
Through opportunities such as these, Congo BioMed aims to build the biomedical research community in the Congo and nurture the professionals that will meet tomorrow’s health challenges.
